Eric Bailly humbled by monthly award

Eric Bailly has reacted humbly to winning Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for August, insisting it’s down to how quickly his team-mates have helped him settle.

The Ivorian summer signing capped a stunning first month at the club by picking up our first monthly accolade of 2016/17, ahead of fellow nominees Zlatan Ibrahimovic and centre-back partner Daley Blind.
Asked by ManUtd.com to sum up his start at the club, Bailly replied: "I'll just say that it was easy for me to settle at the beginning. Thanks to my team-mates and the technical staff, it’s gone very well.
"I'd like to thank my team-mates for all the help they gave me. I'm standing here today thanks to them, with the Manchester United Player of the Month award."
Bailly’s partnership with Blind has been a feature in United’s strong start to the season and the 22-year-old continued: "Daley has a lot of experience in the Premier League and the combination between us two has worked very quickly.
"I think it's precisely the manager's strategy: there's a good connection between us. It's important for the defence and I hope it will go on like this."
Bailly has already helped United lift the Community Shield by beating Leicester City at Wembley but he has bigger ambitions for his first season with the Reds.
He added: "With the efforts we make every week, I think we can go all the way to a cup final – and why not win the Premier League? We have to work hard and I hope we'll make it."
