Manchester United are willing to listen to offers in the region of £2m for experienced midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The German’s future at Old Trafford is bleak with United boss Jose Mourinho making it clear he’s not part of his plans for this season.
Now the Red Devils, according to German publication Bild, are ready to accept a small fee of £2m as they look to get his £190K-per-week wages off their payroll.
However, given that Schweinsteiger has not asked for a transfer, United will have to pay compensation to him.
The 31-year-old arrived from boyhood club Bayern Munich 12 months ago and suffered an injury plagued season which limited the World Cup winning midfielder to just 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
Schweinsteiger has dropped even further down the pecking order following the return of Paul Pogba for a world-record transfer, while Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini have all featured under Mourinho at some point this season.
He’s since been training with the United’s kids team and is prohibited from playing reserve team football as Mourinho doesn’t want him blocking the development of the club’s under-23s.
